SmiLe Innovation Days is a series of mini-conferences organised by SmiLe Incubator, a leading incubator for life science startups in Lund, Sweden. Each one is specifically dedicated to a promising and emerging field in the health and wellbeing sectors. All SmiLe Innovation Days mini-conferences are designed to inspire and enable the creation of tomorrow’s science-based solutions.
SmiLe Innovation Days: Microbiome & Nutritional Science is the first in the series. It will be entirely virtual/online and focus on what’s happening at the intersection of nutrition, medicine, and biotechnology — and the potential future applications.

Discussions will cover topics from the latest regulatory framework focused on microbiome solutions to the intricacies of protecting a science-based invention. Conversations will feature experts from biotech companies such as BioGaia, and representatives from intellectual property firms like AWA.

Whatever your solution or startup, science needs to be its core. It can be based on a new scientific discovery, a technological innovation, a novel combination of scientific principles, or even an “out-of-the-box” idea. Your product or service should aim to have demonstrated health benefits/impact.

Shahram holds a Ph.D. degree from Lund University in Medical Inflammation Research. He is a skillful immunologist with many years of research expertise on gastrointestinal complications in autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases. Focusing on Brain-Gut axis he has pioneered research in multiple sclerosis (MS: brain inflammation) by targeting the gut using combination of probiotic bacteria. Shahram has collected new probiotic bacteria from innovative biological sources and developed the proprietary lactobacilli library and has solid know-how in the scientific selection methods (in vitro & in vivo) and combination of strains to achieve optimal therapeutic potential. He has designed ImmuneBiotech’s drug candidates by careful and multiple selection methods to identify potential strains and formulations for the optimal therapeutic management of the diseases.
